ISO 639 Language lists |

ISO 639 specifies both 2- and 3-letter codes for
indicating a language. The codes are used for the value of the lang= attribute. (Remember, almost every element
has a lang= attribute--it is a global
attribute.) You should use the 3-letter codes. However, a list of the
2-letter codes is included here for reference purposes (should you
come across some in texts transcribed before we firmly decided to
stick with the 3-letter codes).
