The key attribute in the TEI Header

Encoding Instructions (old P4 version)

The WWP encodes key values within the TEI header on the following elements:

persName (inside author)

name (inside respStmt in the change log)

The rationale for encoding persName within author is that it accounts for the fact that naming and authorship are logically distinct and are both important, independently, for retrieval.
