Online Texts

The WWP textbase, Women Writers Online, was first published online on August 1, 1999. Information on licenses is available, including prices and a copy of the license agreement. You can also find information about our interface development and the new version of WWO. Further information about the WWO and RWO collections, including help, technical support, and information on editorial principles, is available here.

Our main collection, Women Writers Online, presents all WWP texts currently available online, covering a period from 1400 to 1850. This collection includes the texts which appear in the RWO site described below. All of these texts can be browsed, searched, and analysed using tools which provide access to the full XML encoding.

Renaissance Women Online is a special subset of Women Writers Online, and was developed as part of an initiative funded by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. This resource offers an online environment for teaching and research in the field of Renaissance women's writing. It includes a group of 100 WWP texts from the early modern period, together with introductions to the individual works and essays on the cultural context of the period, all written for RWO by numerous scholars in the field.

You can see a list of texts included in the online collection sorted by author, title, or date. You can also view a list of recently added texts.

Printed Text Orders

Printouts of the WWP's texts are no longer available for purchase. We hope to make available a new system for downloading PDFs of texts from Women Writers Online in 2009.
